Our Last Outing of 2019 at:      VAN STADENS RESORT  (Where else)

Date: 22 – 23 November 2019

Despite the unpleasant weather that we have been experiencing we had an amazing turnout of 11 vans  challenging the weather and what a winner the weather turned out to be.

Attendance was marred by some of our Members having prior commitments eg moving house & birthday functions  etc.  Your attendance was missed.

We all wish Pat on 9th December many happy returns of the day.

December must have been a romantic month as wedding anniversaries were aplenty.

5 – Pearce, 11 – Tinley, 17 – Hickman, 21 – Watson

On the health side of things the Tinley family have been under stress and our thoughts and prayers are with them.   Gavin unfortunately had to leave the Outing prematurely due to the flu bug getting hold of him.

  • We had a relaxing weekend with a touch of excitement. Who would have imagined we would have experienced professional shark fishermen at the weekend.  A few of us experienced the landing and tagging the sharks and releasing back out into the wilds.
  • Peter the Firemaster to form arranged amazing braai fires and unbelievably the weather as well. A tremendous amount of camaraderie was enjoyed under the Dekker tree.
  • The End of the Year Christmas Function unfortunately will not be fully supported due to members having other commitments. We are still guaranteed a good crowd of 11 couples. As we all know we are going to the Golden Coast Chinese Restaurant on 6 December at 6:30.

Fun and festivities are sure to be had and being at a Chinese / Thai Restaurant the Treasurer will keep his shirt on and eat the bow-tie.

  • Please don’t forget about Pam’s charity box.
  • A request has been made from the National Body for attendance figures at the NAGM which will be held in Natal in September 2020.  As at now we have no volunteers to attend.  However please advise if you require further information.

The Stirrer Spoon was handed to Cliffie from Ray due to not acknowledging that he walked off with Ray’s prize braai tongs at the Noordhoek Outing.

I as the Chairman was obliged to keep you all in check but due to a few of you stepping out of line fines were imposed and an amount of R127 was acquired.

The weekend was a great success and our next Outing will be at Willows Resort being the 17/18th January 2020.  Nine sites have been booked and will you please confirm your attendance with Peter Dekker by the 10th January 2020.  Peter’s cell no 083 7235705.

On behalf of myself and the Committee to all the Members we would like to extend a very festive and merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy  New Year.

As a few of us became aware of a damaged rim on Cliffie’s caravan and an old spare wheel/tyre he experienced major difficulties getting home from van Stadens this past weekend.

Due to unbelievable circumstances at home I accidentally noticed a separation / bubble in the tread on one of my tyres on my Caravan.  How long it had been there who knows.

I purchased two new tyres today and discussing this issue with the Suppliers they recommend that we inspect our tyres regularly after a six year lifespan so I am just asking you to please take note of my experience.

L3 - Mountain Breeze

Club | News
Mountain Breeze Resort, Stellenbosch is a wonderful campsite with lots of pine trees for shade. The plots are level and no grass due to the trees but not a problem unless it really rains. There is a lovely swimming pool for the summer. The ablutions are neat, clean and have a constant supply of hot water and hand soap and sanitizer. Campers must supply their own toilet paper. All campers enjoyed this camp, just a pity the present owners lease is expiring end of June 2021. We just have to wait to see what happens to the present campsite

L8 - Chapman's Peak Caravan Park 28th May 2021

Club | News
Chapman's Peak Caravan Park 28th May 2021 (AGM)Friday was a pleasant day although rain had been predicted, I was pleased to find Dawn andBrian were set up on the right hand side, as Rhia had warned me at reception, that a crowd wasexpected on the Left. Poor Leslie and Marieta had set up without chatting to Rhia and they wereon the left and had to move. Not that easy once everything is unpacked and settled.
